Industry Overview:
Textile industry is one of the most important and rapidly developing sectors. The industry uses large amounts of process water and produces polluted discharge in large amounts which can have a high environmental impact if not treated effectively before discharge. The textile industry has a big pollution problem. The World Bank estimates that 17 to 20 percent of industrial water pollution comes from textile dyeing and treatment.
Significance of Water:
Textile wastewater includes a large variety of dyes and chemical additions that make the environment a challenge for textile industry not only as liquid waste but also in its chemical composition. Textile production involves a number of wet processes that may use solvents. Emission of volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) may arise from textile finishing and drying.
